Tariff Update
Yesterday, the Tariff landscape shifted again with President Trump issuing a new Executive Order (April 10) outlining his plan for tariffs. The order suspends reciprocal tariffs for 90 days to 9 July 2025. A universal 10% tariff still applies for all countries (except China).
The announcement immediately drew comments from the trade alliances. You can read them here :

Toasts not Tariffs
In response, the EU immediately paused counter-tariffs, which were originally scheduled to commence next Tuesday, 15 April 2025.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the EU Commission, commented on X @vonderleyen
“ We took note of the announcement by President Trump. We want to give negotiations a chance. While finalising the adoption of the EU countermeasures that saw strong support from Member States, we will put them on hold for 90 days. If negotiations are not satisfactory, our countermeasures will kick in. Preparatory work on further countermeasures continues. As I have said before, all options remain on the table”
