Operations Update
MLK: In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we will be working with limited staff on both Friday, 1/13 and Monday, 1/16. Please expect delays from our teams during these days. All warehouses will be operating on their normal schedule.
Port Overview: Port of New York delays are down to 2 days at APM and PNCT, all other terminals are operating within normal timeframes. Moreover FDL & Gordon’s are now working with 24-hour inbound turnarounds paving the way to more favorable release times. The Port of Oakland has also improved by leaps and bounds with minimal vessel delays (0-3 days), however due to limited appointment availability at Sidekick, some containers may see additional charges.
Demurrage: At the end of 2022, Elenteny’s team hosted a webinar on the all-important biennial FDA registration. This year it was critical that our customers and their suppliers understood not only the additional step of registering with the DUNS number, but also the registration’s tie-in to the new TTB CBMA reporting system. Some suppliers have not provided customers with updated FDA numbers and as a result Elenteny has already incurred demurrage while updated FDA information was gathered. If you have not received confirmation of all your wineries’ registrations for 2023, now is the time to double-check! Elenteny will pass demurrage through on any container held up by FDA rejections, in addition to any fees our brokers incur on rejected clearances.
Freight Price Reduction: In case you missed the good news, we are happy to be able to start the new year with some good news about costs. We recently received our 2023 Q1 pricing tariffs from our freight forwarders. Prices on the European lanes have finally started to fall. Our most popular LCL lane costs will be reduced by between $1 -> ~$2 a case, in addition, there will be a 1% reduction on the BAF fuel surcharge. More details may be found here.
