Weekly Update: Week 33: Aug 8th – 12th

Operations Update:

We continue to see widespread disruption across the supply chain.  The increase in East coast volumes, +36% YTD, now means that all NY terminals are reporting wait times of 1 -3 weeks.  Unfortunately, these waiting times look like they will continue to deteriorate.  Trucker availability, heat waves and vacation time in Europe also factor into delayed pickups, particularly in France and Italy.  We continue to urge our customers to order as early as possible and to expect delays of 6 – 8 weeks, from order placement to product delivery.  Industrial action is also adding to delays from a number of European countries.

Industry groups are pressuring the Federal Marine Commission (FMC) to address the NY port situation and to push back on unfair ocean carrier detention and demurrage charges, more details may be found here.
