June Newsletter

We’ve woven this week’s update into the monthly newsletter so you can get all your import news in a single click.

Operations Update:

Plan ahead:  Submit Q4 orders early to avoid out of stocks.

We know summer is just beginning, but it’s time to plan ahead for OND. Current supply chain issues are delaying orders well beyond previous timelines and these delays are predicted to continue well into 2023.

With a 3-4 month turnaround time for orders,  an order sent today will most likely land in late September or October.

Global Carrier Reliability Schedule Continues to Deteriorate

Only around one third of ships arrive on schedule in 2022.

Customer Spotlight: Kellogg Selections

Importing great wine to the Carolinas since 2007. Born and raised in South Florida, founder Stephanie Kellogg still loves pairing the beach with sparkling beverages.

Stephanie began working in restaurants before she was legally allowed, and that passion for hospitality has carried through to her new career as owner of a Wine Distributor. She pursued her career in some of America’s most fun cities, Nashville, Charlotte, Napa, San Francisco and New York, but it was the Carolinas that felt like the best place to start her company.

After a restaurant career working at some of her favorite restaurants, Park Tavern in SF, Eleven Madison Park in NYC, and Mustard’s in Napa, Stephanie was pursued by a wine importer in New York to run their logistics. That jump may seem like a stretch, but her legendary attention to detail, and ability to get everyone to work together allowed her to advance quickly.

After working for Swirl Wine Brokers in California, she put her relationships and talents to work for Kellogg Selections. Stephanie has put together a diverse portfolio of wines, and you can always count on a world class collection of Champagne producers, some of which she even allows her accounts to have.

Opportunity to Sign Petition for TTB Recognition of the 620ml:

The argument: 620ml bottles are a recognized standard size in France for Vin Jaune and Chateau Chalon wines. This size even has a name for those that are not familiar with it: the clavelin. For decades importers have listed 500ml or 750ml on COLAs in order to import these wines, so the wines are already in the USA.

Support the effort to get this size approved so that these wines can be imported with COLAs that reflect their actual volume. It is moreover necessary as French wineries can not legally export the wines unless they list them as 620ml, so there is an inconsistency that is preventing some importers from being able to import these wines from certain wineries.
