FDA Bi-Annual Renewal Period Now Active
October 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024
Food facilities that are required to register with the FDA must renew registrations during the period beginning on October 1 and ending on December 31 of each even-numbered year.
During the renewal period, you will not see the “Update” button listed on the FFRM main menu, until the registration is renewed. If a registration is not renewed by 11:59 PM on December 31 of 2024, the registration is considered expired and the FDA will remove it from your account.
In addition, all facilities must include a unique facility identifier (UFI) recognized as acceptable to the FDA with the registration submission “To” date, the FDA recognizes the Data Universal Numbering System D-U-N-S (DUNS) number as an acceptable UFI. The DUNS number is assigned and managed by Dun & Bradstreet. DUNS numbers can be obtained or verified by visiting D&B’s websiteExternal Link Disclaimer

Strike Surcharges Cancelled
Last week, during the strike, Steamship lines had forecasted the need to impose steep surcharges to account for the time their vessels were expected to remain at anchor, causing expected supply chain delays. Once the strike was suspended, Steamship lines opted to remove these charges. Vessels affected by the strike will not incur additional charges.
This week we have seen encouraging signs and some vessels have docked on time and containers departed the dock within normal timeframes. Some other vessels have delays from 2-4 days at most. Our team continues to monitor the speed of inbounded containers daily.
Hurricane Milton
Ports have suspended operations under Condition Zulu (which means closed to all vessel traffic and to ship-to-shore cargo operations, except those specifically authorized by the Coast Guard’s captain of the port, as of Wednesday, Oct 8.). Elenteny does not have any active containers arriving at any Florida Ports. However, given the size of the storm system, we continue to monitor the impact on containers currently on the water and any delays at other Ports along the East Coast.
