RNDC Fallout
This year has been tough for our Californian customers and friends. At a time when the CA market is still in recovery mode, the news from Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is another significant setback for many of the unique and emerging brands operating in this market.Since the news broke about RNDC’s withdrawal from CA, our team has been fielding calls about whether we can help and what creative solutions may go some way to alleviate the immediate pressure, with an eye on what comes next.
Team Elenteny has the required licensing to sell directly to on and off-premise locations in CA. Our service works well for established small businesses, although we also handle clearing for larger retail operations and provide services across various grocery segments as needed.
We know a number of companies that have been working to support their wines in other distributors’ sales books and feel that if they didn’t do the work, their wines wouldn’t sell at all. Working with Elenteny Imports would allow you to possibly gain greater margin for the work you’re already doing.
We have been working with our customers for the past 15 years with guaranteed reliability facilitated by our proprietary back-office solutions and we have a lot of trust built up with our customers.
The truth is, we’re not entirely sure what the landscape will look like in the coming months. But we’ve seen challenging periods before, and we know having flexible, reliable distribution partners can make the difference between weathering a storm and thriving through it.
If you’re navigating these changes or know someone who may be, we’d be happy to discuss how our solutions might fit into your business.

Extended Deadline for In-Transit Goods Tariff Exemption
The deadline for tariff exemptions on goods currently in transit has been extended to June 16, 2025, moving from the original May 28 deadline.
To qualify for the exemption, shipments must meet all of the following requirements:
- Departed from their final port before 12:01 AM on April 5, 2025
- Currently in transit to the United States and have not yet arrived
- Complete entry into the United States before 12:01 AM on June 16, 2025
Shipments meeting these criteria will continue to be exempt from the 10% universal tariff that became effective April 5, 2025. Read more here.
This deadline extension allows additional processing time for qualifying in-transit shipments to complete customs clearance while preserving their exemption from the new tariff requirements. Any questions please reach out to answers@elentenyimports.com
FDA Registration Issues
The FDA is currently consolidating its database by removing duplicate facility registrations. As part of this cleanup process, they are requiring that company information in Section 2 of FDA registrations exactly match the corresponding DUNS registration data. Often minor discrepancies—like “Rd” instead of “Road will result in cancellation.
The FDA advises updating your FDA registration rather than modifying your DUNS record. FDA registration updates process in real time, while DUNS record changes can take 7–15 business days to complete.
To prevent cancellation of your FDA registration, update Section 2 to match your DUNS record precisely. After submission, expect a five-day review period. Once the information aligns perfectly, your registration will be reactivated.
This handy webinar from FDA and Dun & Bradstreet outlines the process.
