European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) is coming.
Steamship lines have forecast the levying of a new surcharge to comply with EU Climate Law to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030. The Fit for 55 initiative requires that ship operators must cover 70% of verified emissions, up from 40% in 2024 and vessels must reduce the greenhouse gas intensity of their fuel by 2% compared to 2020 levels, with stricter requirements every five years.Steamshiplines have indicated that a new charge will be instituted in early January 2025 and we are currently working to clarify the scope of these charges. 2025 CBMA Allocations
The TTB has launched the 2025 CBMA assignments on the myTTB portal. Assignments must be renewed annually and should be the best overestimate of what you may import in 2025.Once the supplier makes the 2025 allocation, please provide their TTB ID and the gallon figure to cbma@elentenyimports.com.You can still set up CBMA assignments or increase your gallonage for the rest of 2024, however, any containers that arrive after the New Year must have 2025 assignments.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask at cbma@elentenyimports.com. |
