Wild Weather in Chile

Swells in and around Chilean Ports have been causing havoc for containerships, impacting loadings, berth availability and Port operations.  Weather warnings are now in place from 31 July – 3 August 2024.  We expect that some steamship lines will avoid the Port and re-route from San Antonio to Valparaiso. The Cross-Andes Pass was also closed on 31 July to vehicles due to extreme winter weather.  Inclement weather is expected to continue to impact the pass until early – mid August.

We only ship Reefer in the summer!

Temperatures in Europe have been soaring the past week with temps sitting in the early 80’s, consistently for the past few days.  While we watch the heat index climb we want to remind you that Elenteny only ships reefer in the summer, our pick-ups are refrigerated, the consolidated warehouses are temp-controlled and the reefers are kept cool on the water.

Check out the heat wave over the next 7 days in FOS!!

It is not sweater weather!!

We have recently learned that USDA will be stepping up its enforcement of non-compliant organic shipments after September 19th, 2024.  During Elenteny’s clearance process, we verify the commodity status of each shipment by the description on commercial invoices, and we have recently seen a large increase in the volume of invoices reporting products as “Organic” or “Bio”.

Beginning on August 19th, Elenteny will be conducting inspections of products identified on invoices as organic that are not opted into our program.

If organic labeled products are identified, they will be:

a) Returned to the supplier at customer expense, or:

b) At the request of the customer, opted-in to our program**

Opting-In to Import with Elenteny Imports.

You must register wines with a label that includes the word ORGANIC prior to arrival. This can include any of the following:  “Organic”. “Organic Wine” “Made with Organic Grapes”  “Made using Organic practices”.

Enroll wines within our enrollment periods to optimize the process.  The enrollment periods are :

           September 1, 2024 – September 20, 2024

           December 1, 2024  – December 20, 2024

           March 2, 2025 – March 21, 2025

To opt your products in or if you have any follow up questions, please reach out to organic@elentenyimports.com and we will provide our latest guidance.

**a rush fee will apply in this instance.
