Panama Canal Update
Recent rain in the Panama region improved water levels in the Panama Canal, allowing heavier ships with larger cargo loads to make passage. The Panama Canal Authority has also announced an increase in the number of slots to 35 after August 5, 2024. Despite the improvements to the situation, emergency surcharges have not been suspended.
Ferragosto is almost here!
Get your Italian orders moving this week to account for the Ferragosto holiday season. While Ferragosto is officially celebrated on 15 August each year, we know many of our Italian friends and families take the opportunity to take their annual holidays.
Cross Andes Pass Opens
The Cross-Andes Pass pass was reopened this week as recent heavy winter weather cleared. It is estimated that it will take a week for the backlog of congestion to resolve, and for transits to return to normal. Weather forecasts 10 days from now show good conditions, and we anticipate the pass will remain open.
