Operations Update
French strikes May through June
If you have any plans of importing wines from France over the next few months, please plan accordingly. The French National Federation of ports and docks are planning on 4 hour work stoppages in the middle of day, starting May 23, and will also include May 27, 29 and 31. June 4, 6, 10, 12, 14, 18, 20, 24, 26, 28. This will put significant strain on port operations, and create delays that reverberate for weeks after the planned strikes have stopped.
Producer holidays usually start around July, so please account for additional delays when making your summer purchasing plans. Feel free to reach out to our team if you need any help with your plans, or if you just need a little emotional support. We are all in this together.
It isn’t too soon to think about OND for Italian imports
Reminders of the impending warm embrace of summer are starting to show themselves. That is no different for our friends in beautiful Italy. Generally Italian wineries will set their deadlines for pre-closure shipment around the first week of July. That means it is best to get the wine for your OND sale out of Italy before the month of August or you risk not getting it out until September. Average times out of Italy from when the wine is ready at the producer to when it is in your hands is ~45 days. |
