French Update
Last Friday, the highest French constitutional court, Le Conseil Constitutionnel, ruled that the change to the retirement age was legal. Subsequently, there has been a change in the French situation with more limited industrial action, accordingly a lot of bookings have been made from Fos and Le Havre. We anticipate, if this should continue, that we will no longer be using Antwerp and remain hopeful the backlog is cleared soon. We have been advised that vessels will now sail 3 weeks after the latest ready date for consolidated containers, FCL’s will be quicker. There are, however, more calls for strike action and we will continue to monitor and respond accordingly.
German Industrial Action
There is a nationwide rail strike planned for Friday the 21st of April, which will affect some freight movements, disruption is also planned at some airports on Thurs/Friday.
