| Global freight prices have steadily increased throughout 2021. During this time we have treated some of these increases as temporary additional charges with the hope that pricing would return to previous levels. Price levels in the summer unfortunately rose to a level that forced us to issue a price increase.
Later in the year on October 4th, we alerted customers of an increase to our Emergency Surcharges on our LCL rates. This was related to a general price increase from the shipping lines that we hoped would not be permanent. Unfortunately, rates have remained high and we were recently notified of additional increases from our vendors for ocean freight, drayage, port charges and warehousing. We will accordingly be raising our standard LCL rates, effective for all sailings, starting Feb 4th 2022. We will also be updating the Fuel surcharge rate to reflect rising oil prices and surcharges. Please see below for details. East Coast LCL prices from France, Italy and Spain will increase by $2.14 per case for the East Coast. West Coast LCL prices from France, Italy and Spain will rise by $3.43 Per case for the West Coast. The fuel surcharge will change from 16% to 18% for the port of Seattle. The Bill of Lading (BOL) Charge for all orders will increase from $20 to $35. With the above adjustments, the Emergency Charges will be lowered from the $2 to $5 range, to approximately $1 per case. Emergency Surcharges include : Ocean Carrier Emergency Surcharges + Vendor emergency price increase + port congestion/equipment upcharges For reference, we have included the Drewery world container index, which reflects the ocean rate changes over the last year.
