15% EU Tariffs
Yesterday, the Tariff deal for 15% baseline tariff was agreed by President Trump and Ursula von der Leyen.
Our industry via the US Wine Trade Alliance and Toasts for Tariffs coalition has been lobbying hard for wine and spirits to be highlighted explicitly in the deal. In their latest message they note:
“President von der Leyen noted that negotiations are ongoing and that the product list for zero tariffs is still being finalized. She specifically stated that discussions on alcoholic beverages have yet to be resolved. Other key questions remain unanswered, including whether there will be exemptions for wine already in transit and how enforcement will work if negotiations on alcohol extend past August 1. We are actively seeking clarity on these issues in the coming days” (27 July 2025).
Meetings in Washington continue to occur this week.
We expect the Federal Register to be updated in the coming days which will clarify our operations on these tariff changes, including confirmation of commencement.

Tariffs For other Wine Producing Countries
While much of the focus has been trained toward the outcome of EU trade negotiations, there are still many other wine regions whose governments have yet to negotiate reduced reciprocal tariffs or confirm the continuation of baseline tariffs. Our customers are still impacted significantly by these decisions.
As of 28 July 28, 2025 tariff percentages from the following countries are as follows, unless we hear further:
South Africa – 30%
Argentina & Chile – 10 %
Australia & New Zealand – 10%
Brazil – 50%
Mexico – 0%
