Longshoremen Strike: Various outlets have reported that strike negotiations have stalled recently, and a September 30th strike looks to be a real possibility. A strike notice has been submitted by the union, which acts as a 60 day notice. This article from Labor News has more details.

September 19th Organics Deadline: The USDA’s temporary allowances for imports with NOP certificates using “Uncertified Handler” status will no longer be valid from September 19, 2024 – even if the importer is in the process of being certified. We are happy to share that we have received our NOP certificate. Tip of the hat to Tim Kealey for all his hard work.
Beginning on August 19th, Elenteny will be conducting inspections of products identified on invoices as organic which are not opted in. If organic labeled products are identified, they will be returned to the supplier at customer expense, or at the request of the customer, opted-in (a $300 rush fee will apply in this instance).
