Thank you for your interest in the Elenteny Imports Organic program.
To provide some background: in 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) established new protocols under the National Organic Program (NOP) called Strengthening Organic Enforcement (SOE). These rules went into effect in mid-2024. Under SOE, any party importing organic products into the United States must be registered as a Certified Organic Importer. In addition, any shipment entering the U.S. with the terms “Organic” or “Made with Organic Grapes” appearing anywhere on the label must be certified organic by either the USDA or an organization that is part of the Accredited Certifiers Association (ACA).
In order to continue supporting organic products, Elenteny Imports became a certified Organic Importer. This certification added two required steps for importing organic products.
- Elenteny must register each organic COLA with our certifier, Natural Food Certifiers (NFC). This requires submission of the approved organic COLA along with the supplier’s organic certification, issued either by the USDA or an ACA member.
- For each shipment, Elenteny Imports must obtain a National Organic Program (NOP) Import Certificate. This certificate includes a document number that must be entered into customs software for clearance. Agencies will also need T. Elenteny Holdings LLC’s NOP number (8241000033) in order to register their shipment.
