ILA & USMX Update
Late Wednesday, the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) reached a tentative Master Contract Agreement and announced that strike action will not disrupt East Coast and Gulf Port operations. You can read more about the six-year contract here.
Emergency Operations Surcharges
Some steamship lines have released their expected Emergency Operations Surcharges (EOS) which will be applied in addition to their ongoing Peak Season Surcharges (PSS). Currently, we do not know what these charges will be. These charges differ based on the steamship liner used for the shipments. Customers should be prepared to see charges anywhere from $0.70 to $1.30 per case.
Tariffs
The incoming administration has signaled they may use an economic emergency declaration to give broad power to the president to impose a variety of potential tariffs, however to date, no specific language or timelines related to wines and spirits has been announced. Elenteny is actively working with the US Wine Trade Alliance (USWTA) and we will relay updates as they become available.
French Strikes
French Ports have issued 4 hour work stoppages at Le Harve and Fos Sur Mer for on January 7, 9, 13, 15, 17, 21, 23, 29, 31. We expect delays to loading and sailings due to this action. Look for updated ETAs in the coming weeks.
