Operations Update

Have you checked your inventory?

Last year was a tough year overall for the industry.

We are seeing that inventory levels are returning to normal and that there’s a recovery in orders booked at the start of this year. The uptick in LCL (Less than Container Load) services suggests that customers are adapting their ordering patterns to be more flexible and responsive to market conditions, which can help in rightsizing inventory holdings and managing carrying costs.

TTBID Listening Session: Wine Labeling & Advertising of Wine

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) announced virtual public listening sessions about the labeling of wine, distilled spirits, and malt beverages and the proposed requirements to disclose per-serving alcohol and nutritional information, major food allergens, and/or ingredients.   More information about the sessions can be found here

Sessions will be held on these dates:

February 28, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST
February 29, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST

New Strikes in France

The French National Federation of Ports and Docks has called for new strike action on February 16, 22, and 27, for all port staff across all ports.  The strike action is part of a nationwide campaign to protest the government’s pension reform policies.

Disruptions at the Port of Antwerp

The Port of Antwerp experienced disruptions due to protests from farmers who barricaded roads around the Port on 13 February.  Protests follow similar action by farmers in France protesting new environmental regulations impacting the profitability of products.  Expect delays to freight handling as Port services recover from the events.

Reminder Elenteny is closed on Presidents Day.

Elenteny Imports and all partnering warehouses will be closed on Monday, February 19th in Observance of Presidents Day.  The Distribution team will be processing orders on Friday,  February 16th for delivery on Tuesday, February 20, or the next available delivery date according to the warehouse schedule.
